Our Team

The Q-BIOMED Hub brings together expertise in quantum technologies and biomedicine from across six universities: University College London, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of Warwick, Cardiff University and Heriot-Watt University.

Our Directors

  • Headshot of Prof John Morton

    Professor John Morton

    CO-DIRECTOR AND PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

John Morton is Professor of Nanoelectronics & Nanophotonics at University College London and the Director of the UCL Quantum Science and Technology Institute. His research takes spins of electrons and nuclei in a range of nano-scale materials and devices to develop a new generation of quantum technologies, including quantum sensors, quantum memories, and quantum computers.

  • Professor Mete Atatüre

    CO-DIRECTOR

Mete Atatüre is Professor of Physics at the University of Cambridge and Head of the Cavendish Laboratory. His current research efforts include optical control of spin-photon interfaces in solids, investigations of novel quantum materials and devices, and development of nanoscale quantum sensors for life sciences.

  • Headshot of Professor Dame Molly Stevens

    Professor Dame Molly Stevens

    CO-DIRECTOR

Professor Dame Molly Stevens FRS FREng FMedSci is John Black Professor of Bionanoscience at the University of Oxford (Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics and Institute of Biomedical Engineering) and part-time Professor at Imperial College London and the Karolinska Institute.

Professor Stevens’ multidisciplinary research balances the investigation of fundamental science with the development of technologies and designer biomaterials to address some of the major healthcare challenges across diagnostics, advanced therapeutics and regenerative medicine.

Professional Services

  • Dr Adam Callan-Sidat

    SENIOR UK RESEARCH HUB MANAGER

Adam is responsible for the day-to-day strategic and operational delivery of our programme. He manages the Hub’s projects, finances, stakeholder relationships, reporting, risk management, and compliance. Adam works closely with our researchers to accelerate scientific progress and ensure milestones are met on time and within budget. He also drives new funding opportunities and manages the legal and ethical aspects of the Hub’s operations.

Adam’s background is in the life sciences, with a PhD in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research. He began his journey into applying quantum technologies for healthcare at the Medicines Discovery Catapult, where he developed use cases for quantum computing in the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Headshot of Amy Warnock

    Dr Amy Warnock

    SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Amy is responsible for leading and implementing the Hub’s communications strategy, including developing the Q-BIOMED website, social channels and internal communications. She also leads on all Hub events, including stakeholder workshops, conferences and public outreach events.

Amy has a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and has worked in science communication for the past seven years, with experience in both the higher education and charitable sectors.
